Teeth Gap Bands:
A Simple Solution to a Simple Problem

Your smile is one of the first things a person notices when you meet.  An aesthetically unappealing smile can have negative affects on your personal life and in business.  If you have a gap between your teeth you find aesthetically unappealing, your dentist is likely to suggest getting braces.  Having braces put on is a big commitment of both time and money.  Most Orthodontists charge $80 or higher just for the initial consulation.  Then, the cost of braces range anywhere from $5000 to $8000 and is not typically covered by insurance.  If you want less visible braces, the costs will be even higher.  This does not include the additional costs for visits and adjustments.  Fortunately, there is a much cheaper, less time consuming solution to a simple problem of gaps between teeth.  Teeth Gap bands offer an affordable, safe, and effective method to eliminate gaps between teeth.  Comparatively, Teeth Gap bands can be purchased for only $19.95 plus shipping for 100 bands.

How teeth movement happens
Teeth movement occurs when there is some pressure continuously applied to the teeth.  As movement occurs, the periodontal ligament encasing the tooth in the gum is stretched to one side and compressed on the other.  This loosens the tooth.  The bone then grows in to support the tooth in its new position.  This is called bone remodeling.  Teeth Gap bands work because when the band is stretched, it wants to contract, putting pressure on the teeth to move toward one another in a straight line.

Are Teeth Gap bands safe?
Teeth Gap bands come in a sealed package to maintain sterility.  They are tasteless, non-latex, hypoallergenic, and made from a high quality industrial elastic polymer designed to have in your mouth.

The instructions for the Teeth Gap bands say to wear them during only the day or night for the first few days so the teeth adjust to the pressure from the bands.  Afterwards, the bands can be worn as often as possible until the wearer gets the desired results.  Just as when a braces wire is changed or adjusted, the teeth will be sore for a few days until the teeth movement slows down.  The benefit of the bands is that, the wearer can easily adjust the amount of pressure placed on the teeth by over stretching the band or reducing the amount of time the band is worn.

There have been claims that using Teeth Gap bands can cause root damage by moving the teeth too fast.  These claims are likely to come from Dentists who are unhappy about clients choosing this inexpensive option.  Root damage is extremely unlikely to happen.  There would be so much pain that the wearer would most likely have chosen to overstretch the band, wear the band less time, or stop using the bands completely before root damage could occur.  Moving the teeth by wearing Teeth Gap bands is less risky than moving the teeth with braces because the wearer is in complete control of the process.

How long will it take to move the teeth?
The osteoclasts, which breakdown the bone and allow tooth movement takes about 72 hours to get fully going.  Although, some movement can be seen after the first night the Teeth Gap bands are worn.

Won’t the teeth just move back?
The osteoblasts rebuild the bone and stabilize the teeth in their new positions over approximately 90 days to 10 months.  This means that braces will need to stay on for an extensive amount of time even after the teeth have moved into the desired position. A cheaper solution without negative effects on your appearance is to continue to wear the Teeth Gap bands only at night after the gap is closed until the teeth are stabilized in their new positions.

Will new gaps appear on the sides of the teeth which had the gap between them?
Although this seems to be a logical result, this does not typically occur because the force created as the teeth move actually causes the gum between the teeth to contract.

Can the Teeth Gap bands be used if the teeth are slightly crooked?
The Teeth Gap bands can still be used when the teeth are slightly crooked. In some cases, the crooked tooth will actually turn as your teeth come together to align with the others.

What about multiple gaps?
Teeth Gap bands can be used to close multiple gaps as well.  For multiple gaps, a band can be applied to the most central two teeth containing a gap.  After a few days or when the wearer feels comfortable wearing the first band, a second and third or more bands can be added depending on the number of gaps.

Will a thick frenum interfere?
The frenum is the area of the gum between the teeth.  A frenum that is a thick band of tissue can interfere with the closing of the teeth.  Some have had luck pushing the frenum gently upwards with a thin, blunt object before each time a new band is applied.  This causes the frenum to begin to move out of the way so the teeth can move.

What about other companies that sell bands that claim to close gaps?
A few other companies sell bands they claim will close gaps between teeth.  These companies have attempted to copy Teeth Gap’s original idea.  These businesses have not been selling their bands as long as Teeth Gap and do not have the experience to help you troubleshoot if you experience difficulties achieving desired results.  Some of these companies sell bands that are not even the correct size to move the teeth effectively.  To be sure you will be getting the right product to do the job well, it is suggested you purchase from a company that can claim many years of satisfied customers.
